SCMTranslation traces its origins back to 2003 when Nathan Williams, then a young American seminarian at Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Seminary in Jordanville, New York, began doing freelance translation work for St. Job of Pochaev press.
As Williams completed his B.A. at HTS and went on to earn his M.A. Russian through Middlebury College Russian School in Vermont, the scope of his work progressed from articles to full-length books. In 2006, Williams formed a Russian-English translation agency, dedicating it to Saints Cyril and Methodius, the missionary brothers who created the Slavonic alphabet based on their native Greek and who, together with their followers, first translated the Bible and Eastern Orthodox Christian liturgical materials into Old Slavonic. Today, SCMTranslation provides translations of business and legal documents, project documentation, personal documents, technical materials, scientific research, personal correspondance, and highly customized projects that are employed by companies and individuals throughout the world. SCMTranslation never stops expanding and developing. Recent developments include expansion into the field of both specialized and general interpreting. Upcoming plans include networking with other local translators and interpreters to raise the bar for quality and versatility. |
